About the Department

The 黑料网 Police Department is located on Western Ave. between the Commuter Lot and the main entrance to the university. The Police Dispatch Center is open 24/7 year-round and can be reached at 413-572-5262 

The Department works to ensure a peaceful quality of life, establish a partnership with the community and support a safe learning environment through fair and impartial policing practices.

The Department is comprised of a Chief, Captain, 3 Lieutenants, 12 Police Officers, 1 full-time Security Officer, 3 part-time Security Officers, 3 Dispatchers, 15 Student Safety Assistants and 1 Office Manager. 

University Police Officers are empowered by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts General Laws and are certified under the Police Officer Standards and training Commission (POST). All officers enforce state laws, including motor vehicle laws, as well as university rules and regulations and have full powers of arrest.

Programs 

As part of our Community Policing efforts, University Police Officers are available to instruct a variety of Crime Prevention and Safety programs for the WSU community such as, CPR/First Aid, Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) and Run-Hide-Fight. Officers also attend various events in the residential halls as part of our Adopt-A-Hall program.

The Owl shuttle provides transportation around campus for students, faculty and staff.

Student Threat Assessment Team (STAT)

This team is responsible for receiving and reviewing reports of potentially threatening, violent or alarming behaviors by any student of the University. To meet with the team or to report a concern, please contact the Dean of Students Office at 413-572-5425/5421.
